Do you sport your front license plate? No worries?

My car's PO mentioned it was "tradition" to leave the front plate off. But here in Calif, that's illegal. Anybody taken heat for leaving it off, or nothing to worry about?

In most states where they have the red light cameras the local and state police are enforcing the front plate laws so they will be sure to have your plate #in the picture when you run the light.
Some people don't think those cameras are fair but i have a friend that lives near a very busy intersection that says the accidents are down 50% since the cameras were installed.

It wasn't so bad when the plate was just #'s & letters. Now every state has turned the plate in to some variant of a bumper-sticker. Here in Washington, we get a blue mountain & #'s, on white w/ red scripty lettering stating "The Evergreen State" (go figure) . . .it clashes for sure.

Hey Leland, what do the Idaho plates look like these days? They use to say "Famous Potatos" . . .do they have a picture of potatos wearing sunglasses ?

Three tickets for it so far. $25 each, and an hour out of my day. It's a vanity tax, and I pay it.

But if it helps me beat a stoplight camera, that's okay, too.

No front plate required in Arizona. Got one that says "Go Diamondbacks"... (if they do not go on strike that is!)...

Gee officer, it must have flown off when I was doing 120 back there.

I'm in CA and don't worry about it.

Cool

Oh my ga-w-w-d...

You people need ANOTHER reason to get stopped OTHER than the fact that you are driving a Porsche? Not me...my front got knocked off and I drove directly to the DMV and for $9 got another set IMMEDIATELY. Went home and installed. Do not need an reason for anybody to have me blow into a balloon!

Absolutely not. Period.

I just get any ticket signed off by one of the several 911 owning Peace officers that have their cars worked on at the p-car shop the wife works at...been doing it for years, works like a charm, never failed me yet !!!

Front plates..?

Having gotten ticketed for no front license plate, I wear one now. I hate tickets.

I have owned my P-car for almost 10 years, I have only been pulled over twice. The first time was because I did not have a front license plate. Luckly no ticket the plate was laying on the floor board and was able to talk myself out of it. The second time was actually by a pretty cool cop that just wanted to check my car out and ask me about my rims.. he also was a P-car owner.. we chatted for about 20 mins. then he got a call on his radio and left the scene. Unfortunately it was just at the time when I was joking with him about giving up the secret pass word the one that gets you off with just a warning on any future stops.

The Cops where I live must not realize that Historical plates come in pairs or they don't care, either way I've had several officers comment on the car in parking lots etc. but never once did they mention I'm not running a front plate. My front bumper is a fiberglass RSR copy that the PO installed over 10 years ago when he redid the car, no holes for a plate so I guess he didn't run one either. However I drove for exactly one day in my beater truck without a front plate and got stopped and ticketed. Must be profiling I guess. I mean you know us young married guys with beat up work trucks are nothing but trouble anyway.

Here in Seattle, I've seen a couple of 911s with the front plate trimmed down (cropped?) to a metal strip just big enough to display the characters, and this is screwed directly to the front valance without the mounting bracket. Looks clean, and I've been told the cops don't mind this.

The front-plate law seems to be very loosely enforced, at least around where I live & work. I haven't run a front plate on any of my cars in almost 15 years. No hassles. Even when I have been stopped for moving violations, it wasn't even mentioned. Maybe I just look...innocent

Never used it on a car that I love. Its seems to degrade the natural look of the car. The way it hangs up on the bumper, destroying the beautiful face of the 911's. Anyone that are in love with their car manages to keep them ugly plates off. Even if it means dipping around town illegally. It also gives off inaccurate readings for laser guns since there's no plates to reflect the laser readings. Another advantage since we love to hear our girls scream on an open road.

Porsche Crest No plates on the front of your 911?

Definately a reason to be pulled over...especially at night. Don't need or want that kind of special attention thank you!

Here (in Belgium, and anywhere else in Europe, if I'm not mistaken), front license plates are mandatory and (again, if I'm not wrong), the question of NOT wishing a front plate isn't an issue at all!
It never came to (my) mind that a Porsche could look "better" without a plate. Does it? I can't even imagine what it would look like, why don't one of you post a picture of your Carrera "sin"?
