a couple questions about fender flares....
first i saw the following pic posted in the "front end" thread
and completely love the look. i looked through the archives and found a few other answers, here are my questions though.... 1.... how will this mod affect the resale value down the road? (i know quality of work is the main factor here) 2.... will i need to change my wheels or can i use spacers? (i have 6&7x16 fuchs) 3.... if i widen the track of the suspension what will i need to beef up to handle the added stress? thanks in advance......i'm planning on a repaint this winter along with an engine drop so i need to start planning if i'm going to do this

Bell:
Everything I've seen or heard is that aftermarket body mods will effect the value in a negative way, and is also dependent on the quality of the work. Having said that, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", so I'd venture to say that there is a buyer out there for everything, and someone will ultimately want to purchase a 911 with body mods. I don't think you can expect to recoup the "investment".

book on my 911 is +or- 17,000......i got her for around 12,000, she only needs paint and a couple of syncros, this is why i'm thinking of this now. i'm going to keep doing research on the "value" part.
anyone know of the wheels/suspension questions? thanks for the input

Personally, I have nothing against body mods. Haha!
You don't need to change the suspension any, but I would put wider wheels on it. That's what turbo flairs are for. Another (cheaper) option is to just space out your existing wheels. Won't look quite so aggressive though. If you do the conversion in metal the resale value won't be quite as affected.

930 fenders sound like the way to go, if i do this it will definately not be fiberglass, i have compared the 2 and have come up with steel and good welding are the key for the rears.
i think i'd stick with the white fuchs too, so looks like i'll be looking for wheels too damn......i can see this may get deep in my pockets, oh well........i'm single

Bell i have a set of ssr gt3 wheels for sale 18x10 and 18x8.5, i went from a standard 1982 sc to a c2 turbo cab look, i love it, but i really want to do a 3.6 conversion now, o' well its just money, the wife says just buy a new one, but why, ill loose as much money on this one, i put front fenders on that had professionaly been converted from sc type to turbo, i am in the market myself for none welded on flare fenders, one has a crack and im not happy, here my e-mail if your interested in the wheels, i kept saving parts till i had everything heres a picture, i need to get one with the cab top, Kevin stew09@aol.com

i think i want to stick with 16"s, too keep the speedo proper and to have more sidewall on the tires (akron/cleveland roads suck).
i'm also going to be lowering the car a bit, she's a bit too tall for my tastes. also.....i love that yellow

Speed Yellow, i live in northern indiana i know what bad roads are like, also the wheels in the picture are atp spa two piece they arent the ssr wheels, as long as you dont change the overall diameter of the tire the speedo will not change, the wheels are 265/35/18 on the rear and my speedo is the same, Kevin

I really like this look. But like Rarly I have a vested interest in modified bodies.
![]() I also live in northern IN. I have 17's without any problems. But you definetly need to go wider whatever diameter you choose.

ok......looks like i'm going to be looking for 930 fenders in about a month along with rockers/rear flares
after some thought, this will make it the porsche i envision being me. i'll decide if i want to put a tail on it when it's done, i'll make sure i'll have extra paint for the tail if i decide yes. also i'll need some wheels, i'm going to try to find some used 7&9 x16's or 8&10 x16's, i have a good wheel straitener and can refinish them myself, that'll take some of the hit off this project (which mind you will be coinsiding with a tranny rebuild/suspension/brake rebuild). the body work i'm going to let a pro do but i'll be painting this myself in a freinds paint shop, white is easy to work with and i know how to sand ![]() i'm on vacation soon and will be getting my garages ready to do some damage. so this combined with the new top i'm constructing should turn my next 5 months upside down....NOW i understand the "passion" of these cars. i'm sure i'll many threads in the future
