Aerial 911 SC
Hi folks what's the best way to remove the aerial on an SC to then allow the wing to be removed. Having trouble and don't want to break anything or chip paint.
Thanks very much |

1981 911SC Manual Antenna Replacement
If you have the manual antenna on a 911SC, it is a royal pain because it is sandwiched between the door jamb and gas filler neck. See the link above. I think the only way is to remove to door. I ended up taking my car into a shop. |

Banned but not out, yet..

There may be a secondary point of attachment for the areal to the firewall, usually secured by a screw. It is not difficult to remove.

Are you removing the aerial from a left or right wing?
Typically the power aerials are mounted on RS and manual on LS. In both cases start by removing the escutcheon nut on top of the aerial. You need either a special spanner or I use very small needle nose pliers. If it's the left side you're working on the next step is to remove the door from the car. The easiest way is to pull the hinge pins with a slide hammer. You will need to remove/unplug the wiring harness for power wimdow and mirror. Also door speaker. Once the door is off, remove the lower fastening screw for the antenna support. Unplug the coax lead and feed out the wire. R side is easier. Loosen the lower mounting fastener/bracket. Unplug The antenna coax lead as well as the power/ground leads. Feed them out and remove the antenna. Hope this helps! Cooper |

Remove the upper nuts on the antenna and then remove the fender. I see no reason to remove the antenna first, or to remove the door at all.

Thanks for all the help. Just to close this it was bolt on the top and then the aerial came through the fender underneath.
