RS replica bumper with integrated spoiler...

David from TRE Motorsports sent me this picture. I think it's a great looking bumper. Of course this is a widebody version, but they make one for a narrow body.

Because I have a Carrera tail, do I need the spoiler or will the standard RS provide enough downforce?

The integrated front splitter will provide added downforce. Yes downforce, and not just minimize lift as with the OEM spoiler.

I have also seen the RSR/IROC type front bumper cap w/o the spliter and a splitter that can be attached for the track. The only advantage I could see with the detachable splitter is that when removed it would provide much easier access in and out of driveways.

It's a good looking front end.

The ducktail was made to work with the regular RS front. The difference in downforce (reduced lift) between a ducktail and carrera tail is about 10 lbs.

I don't think that's enough to make much difference so I'd get the front you like.

It looks like there's a lot of space under the bumper lip, a lot of room for air to get under the car(bad ) For the splitter to work it needs to be quite low. The disadvatage of this type of spoiler is that when it is low enough to be effective it is also vulnerable to curb damage. This is why most street drivers use removeable splitters, On for track off for street.

The advantage of the Yellowbird bumper is that the lip is set back so that it is less vulnerable to curb damage, but a splitter cannot be fitted.

I wouldn't worry too much about the dynamics of tha spoiler in combination w/ the Carrera spoiler
