My ignition finally went KAPUT!

Hello P-car universe!

Last week I bemoaned some issues about my permatune/brazilian bosch intermittent hardcutouts. The coil was leaking, so I replaced that, and the problem has just steadily gotten worse. -so my theory is a leaking coil fried the permatune. Basically... car went kaput...so....do I

1. Buy new permatune and permatune coil and keep existing wires?
2. Go MSD (I'm thinking streetfire), and MSD coil?

I know... I know...don't laugh at me too hard. Permatune has got a bad rap here, and I dont like the price, but it is a straight plug in, and there are some reports that is has gotten better.

OTOH

MSD is cheaper and evidently more durable, but... I'd have to do more wiring, take my chances with tachometer issues/ headaches, and the website says you can't use solid core wires. Guess what I got? yup. Solid core... So if you side with MSD, you need to tell me if my solid core will work, or suggest what I should buy to replace my current wire (pics included). These are relatively new and installed by the PO from here:
Ignition Wire Set - Performance, steel braided

Honestly, I don't know why they wouldn't work with the beru connectors and that cool metal coating- seems like they would suppress electromagnetic interference at least somewhat. I just simply don't know, but by the time I have to replace wires, the MSD isn't that much cheaper than the permatune, especially if I go with the larger MSD 6AL ignition and a potential tach adapter.

What should I do?

Please help!!! .. or at least tell me what wires to get with an MSD system if the above wires aren't gonna work.

If you use -R plugs you need not worry about anything but EMI/RFI.

Braided/shield wire capacitance will lower the HV waveform risetime resulting in poor plug firing.

With CDI once the plug fires if there is no resistance in the circuit to disapate the HV power it gets "reflected" back into the coil primary and the SCR will overheat and fail.

Streetfire and Blaster II high vibration coil, new compatible plug wires and good to go.
Wiring is easy, what year is your car?

thanks all.
Timmy2- I've been doing a lot of searches and those threads were what got me thinking about the streetfire. If I go msd streetfire, ditch my wires, and since you've had good success, what kind if wires/ plugs do you run?
Also, I have seen some threads which mention using an o'reilly rotor without a built in resistor. I have a 78 sc. Would I need to change the rotor too?

Update: This a.m I ordered the streetfire MSD and some magnacore wires. Here goes nothin'!

Thanks again,
Ron
