Brake Lights Still Don't Work!
Hey all,
The brake lights in my '87 coupe still aren't working! I have tried replacing the bulbs and fuse (although I could see they were fine) and just now replaced the switches (thanks to Paul for the excellent tutorial!). What else should I try? Tomorrow I'm going to brake out the multi-meter and see where the juice is or isn't but is there anything else you can think of me doing? Thanks in advance, Michael

Definitely (ok, almost) your brake light switch. There are two of them at the master cylinder -- pressure switches. They get overheated like every other circuit in the 911 and cook themselves. They then take more and more pressure to activate until one day you get nothing. They are easy to replace. There's a thread on replacing them for reference (sorry I can't recall the link). A number of people have retrofitted a mechanical switch to override or back up the pressure switches that continually fail. There are threads on that, too, if you want to check them out.

He said he replaced the switches already...
Break out the meter and see where/if you are losing power after you disconnect the negative to your battery for a couple of minutes and then reattach.... |

Well go figure, I went to move the car in for the evening and the lights work now! The repair gods have smiled on me!
Thanks for all the advice, Michael
