What's the latest on 9 and 11 x 15 tires

Need to finally purchase a set this month and wondering what the current options are as there have been conversations on more options in the future.

When I had 9 and 11 x15 wheels I ran 225/50 up front and 345/35 in the rear.

For some reason, Pirelli still makes the bizarre 345/35 size, they're street tires, and tire rack still carries them.

Eddie ... I got Mich TBs for my RSR wheels. I got my tires from Longstone. Wasnt a huge issue having him ship them to me in Bmore and the shipping was free. I also got them on sale. They were alot cheaper then other routes ie coker etc. Ive heard Hoosiers absolutely suck on the road for a street car. A few guys I know ran them on there ST's. They were cheap but worn quickly and made the car dangerous to drive around town. One got stuck in rain driving 35mph on 95 due to hydroplaning. No fun. I would also look into Kraus Racing. They will be able to set you up with custom grooved tires or avons. Also carries hoosiers. Im sure hell talk you out of them. Longstone was alot cheaper so I ended up going that route. GL!

I took a look but I'm not sure any of those are going to be wide enough to fill out your rear fender. Number 44316 from your link is probably the closest I can see.

Oh, I saw a 70's RSR clone with 15inch 9s and 11s (fuchs) at the shop the other day and it had Mickey Thompson all the way around. I don't know which ones, but they were street tread.

How tall there the tires? MT and other American race tires have the width and in 15's but are tall. Like 26+ inches. I talked to Roger Kraus about running them and he was certain that anything over 26 inches would rub. Goodyear billboards were also on my list for the period correct look but also a 26in tire.

Quoted from email from Roger ....

"The Billboards are too big to fit an RSR, they are 26.5" tall with a a tread width of 8.0 on the front and 10.5 on the rear.

We fit lots of Avon tires for these cars.

On the front we will probably use 9.0/23.5-15 and on the rear we have two or more options. The first is 11.0/23.5-15 or 11.0/25.0-15.

Check out our web site Roger Kraus Racing Ent., Inc.- Castro Valley, CA.

Tread pictures are under Photo Gallery. I have attached the Avon tire specs.

I will call you in a few minutes.

Roger Kraus"

Before you buy the fronts you might want to take a look at one mounted first. If your going to run a true 9/9.5 Mich TB ... ie the 23/62 are a taller tire then the 26/61 your rear selection. Its quite noticeable. That is why most guys choose the 18/60 and stretch it over a 9 inch rim.

vs ...

Both of these awesome RSRs run a stretch front tire.

I took them down to Ye Ole Wheel Shop in Elkridge on Rt 1. Im sure that Tom @ Longstone will give you the best price. If you want to trial fit my wheels and tires on your car before you make a final decision let me know. Im not using them right now.

I looked at Hoosiers...um...no:

But it does look like a giant Hotwheels!

Then I went with the Michelin TB15s and they are just right:

Im selling my TBs ... gonna get me some big ass drag hoosiers, lol. What size width are those bad boys? Most guys Ive seen run hoosiers are running a 10in with tire and the tire is more in the 24-25in size. Those bad boys look like the MT drag radials I was thinking about running .. like 27inch tall.

I've got the green car above.

I run 26/61R15 (rear) and 18/60R15 Michelin TB15's.

The front tires look/fit perfect and DO NOT look STRETCHED. IMHO

They do not look stretched ... It looks just right. . In hindsight I would have went with the 18/60 TB15. Im only going off the Michelin TB15 tire specs. I only used "stretched" as the 18/60 tire is meant for a 6-7.5 inch rim. Its stretched over a 9 inch rim to give the right proportions. If you were to get a 23/62 which is meant for a 8-10.5 inch rim it would look bigger ... like what I have on my rims. Next go around Ill end up stretching a 18/60 vs the true 9 inch tire.

BTW .. hows the set up treating you? I heard you sold your engine off and repowered?

The wheels and tires are a great combo for sure.
Looks and they work great on the street.

Didn't sell the engine.
Will just reconfigure in the near future (ITB's, GT3 hardware, etc).

Ordered the fronts on the 20th and the arrived at my house in 5 days! I can get anything out of CA in five days but this British company Longstone got these in 5 days, just ordered online.

I went with the 18/60 to stretch it over a 9 inch rim but I must say, off the rim they look much narrower than I was expecting. Going to order the rears next week.

^^^^ Told you, lol. Tom is great to deal with. I got my tires in 3 days to my door downtown. Glad it worked out for you. Did he give you a better price then Coker and free shipping? Im going to be getting the 18/20 next time around. Thought about going to 29/61 but afraid it will be to tight but they will look better then better with the 23/62.
