Interested in a trade?

I thought I would test the waters here to see if I get any interested parties........or a response.

I have been driving Porsches since 1974 (1974-911, 1979-SC, 1985.5-944 and now 1973.5T).............of all the cars I found the SC to be the better overall.

I purchased the "T" three years ago. It was restored (engine rebuilt at 94,000 ($7,000), rebuilt 5 spd tranny, bare metal paint, new rubber, AC, H4, new battery, CIS, half shafts, Sunroof, new interior (dash, seats, carpet), "S" calipers, chrome trim (even the wheel wells), dunlops, Sony CD, CIS (new injectors, airbox, cold start, warm up regulator, fuel accumulator, new fuel lines), front oil cooler, SEPIA BROWN, fawn interior, pop out rear windows, all factory tint, full bra, cover, etc, etc, etc. It came with 34K in receipts since birth. Overall a beautiful car, great driver, no leaks, drips or smoke or problems. A beautiful example of the year and a kick to drive. Presently, 145,200 on the odometer. Sorry I cannot get a photo on the board.

The dealer here and PCA evaluation review valued the car at $13,000 - $15,000.

Despite my joy and pride in ownership, I do miss the faster performance of the SC's as one of the best cars on balance.
I considered selling the "T" and purchasing a 1979-1983 SC for daily driving with the few clicks up the technology scale. Roll up windows, and a hand throttle take me back to my old Triumph and Fiat days, but as I am getting older, I prefer more creature comforts. The "T" is a sweetheart, but if your looking for G force acceleration, forget it! Overall, a great city car, mountain road performer and a positive ATTENTION GETTER.

I know their are a good number of old model lover's on this board which takes in the SC years.................what do you think? Maybe someone should just whack me across the head and say I am nuts!!!!! Or someone with an SC in very good condition is desiring to own one of the great lightweights.

Regards
Bob

You are not so crazy and not the first on this board to throw up an interesting trade. BK911 posted a thread back in Oct. 2001 wanting to trade his '86 Carrera for a '72E. See this thread: Trade??

However, while I am sure your 73.5 is worth every penny of the eval of the PCA and dealer, I'm not sure many people are going to think a Sepia Brown 911T with CIS is going to be worth $13-15K in cash or trade. Course I could be completely wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Oh, and by the way, I'm the guy that ended up trading my 72E for BK's '86 Carrera.

Thanks Kurt.
I have been around this board long enough to know what the prevailing attitudes are from educated owners about whats a fair price for an older car.....Although the value does not match Excellence's latest far value assessment, I was surprised to hear that the dealer appraisal was over 10k and the PCA evaluation committee was more at 15K. I guess its what the market can bear. Porsche Pano asking prices are often on the high side while E-bay may be on the lower in most cases.

Porsche SC's are going to run the gamut on price too depending on condition, and I would not expect someone to consider a trade with an excellent example worth far more then mine. What concerns me the most is someone desiring to trade that has an engine that is three beats away from needing rebuilding. Add 7k to that price tag!! No bargain there.

The Sepia Brown, never gets high marks, but to maintain originality I will not change the color. It was popular at the time and it does grows on you......I never get a thumbs down on the color.

Appreciate the thoughts.

Bob
