New front tyres

I intend to replace my front tyres this weekend.
I'm going to stick with the same make - Continental ContiSports 205/55 ZR16.

A few questions though:
- I intend to get the fitter to manually torque the wheel nuts rather than using an air gun. I remember reading that the nuts should be torqued to 95 ft/lbs. Is this correct?
- What pressure should I get him to inflate the tyres to?
- Stick on balancing weights. Should I remove the existing ones first and clean the rims to avoid the fitter scratching my wheels? What's the best method of getting the residue of the old weights off - I had read WD40 and elbow grease?

Any other tips?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Big Mac

What car do you have?

Mine ('88 Carrera 3.2) has 130nm torque (nor sure what that is in ft/lb). This is a lubricated reading - most people seem to use copaslip or a similar anti galling compound. There was a thread on this a few weeks back.

Tyre pressusres 2 bar front 2.5 back

On removing the gunk I don't have an idea. In fact I would like to know myself

I've just fitted new Bridgestone S03s all round - much quieter than the 711's I had and better braking but the car feels a bit "floaty" on sweeps. I guess I'll have to start fiddling with the alignment

Good luck with the Conti's

tire pressures for my '85 are 29/34 I believe.

by all means, have them (carefully) remove the weights before balancing the tires.
what type of wheels do you have - if they are fuchs, should be able to mount/stick the weights on the INSIDE of the rim
