Squirt it with some lithium spray first. It may just need a lube if it's not used much.

Is it the heater blower assembly screaming? Or the fresh air blower?

The fresh air blowers are known for this! These are mounted up front in the trunk under the cowl.

The heater blower motor/air guide is located in the engine compartment. These are also a classic problem, but instead of "screeching" they seize up as the squirrel cage fan comes loose and freezes up against the housing.

If the screech is from the front of the car near the windshield, you need to lubricate the bearing for the fresh air blower fan.
Remove the trunk carpet at firewall and the cardboard type filler piece. You will see the BEHR blower housing behind this. It is possible to remove the metal keeper clips off of the 2 part clam shell housing to expose the motor. I have used several drops of oil down the motor shaft to lubricate the bearing.

If it really is your heater blower, you will need to remove the plastic ducting, 10mm M6 bolt and hose clamp. Then unplug and use a large flat blade screwdriver to loosen the clamp. The whole unit will slide/lift out after you move the clamp to the right.

Once the assembly is out on the bench, remove the retaining screws for the motor and pull it out of the housing.

If the squirrel cage fan is loose on the motor shaft, remove the fastener and clean up the threads. Next, apply either red or blue loctite and reassemble.

I have had both of these issues with my '81 SC over the years.

It is the fresh air blower and I think I seized the bearing because the last time I put the fan on I saw a little white smoke come up from the fan area and the blower won't come on anymore. I might of also blown a fuse which I need to check. Are the fresh air blowers hard to come by and
are they fairly easy to install? Thank you

The bearing in the motor is a weak design, and once the armature starts wobbling, the magnets get ground to dust and break apart.

It takes 5 minutes with a screw driver and 10mm wrench to remove the blower, a few more to open up the motor and decide if it is toast. I have rebuilt a few of these with bearings made from spherical rod ends, but if the magnets are really chewed up, it is done.

Well sounds like your might be seized and done .. which is actually the lesser of two evils.

I have heard of more than a few car fires caused by this motor so fix/replace it and move on .
