I can't speak for their service department, but I refuse to spend a penny with them because of crappy experiences with their parts department. Look on most any 914 forum and you'll find loads of complaints...........

Amen! I once ordered a part for the Boxster in 2003 and never received it. Ten years later still not here, but that's okay as the car has been sold.

Stay away from their service department. Use Franz Blam instead.

Reps Stick Around, Good or Bad
AA(pun) has had a not so great rep for many years and I left the ATL area a long time ago. Take your time and read the reviews. Brakes are one thing but a 911 motor or trans is a whole different league. Most of all visit the shops to see if cars actually cycle through in a reasonable time for the requested repairs. You do not want your Porsche to become a prisoner at a crooked/sorry shop. Buyer beware!!!

I have bought parts from George (owner) for many years and have had no issues at all. I do not mail order, I simply drive over and go to the desk and speak to George and discuss the part I need and 99% of the time they have it in inventory. His prices on OE and OEM parts are reasonable and I save the shipping costs and get to inspect the part. His shop is managed by Sean who is a very likeable guy and although I have yet to use the AA shop I intend on having my speedo cable replaced by these folks shortly. I suggest that if your local you drive over and talk to the shop manager about the work you need.
I have been a Porsche owner close to 40 years and have used just about every shop in the greater Atlanta area. Despite excellent reputations, sooner or later I have had issues on repairs and costs with them all. I have had shoddy work done at the so-called best of the shops. I have found that its really who the mechanic is that fixes your car, which brings up the issue of oversight and experience on behalf of the shop owners.. Sure you can go to Franz Blam, Rylan, Jack Lewis, Reggie, etc, etc, but thats no guarantee that you will be satisfied. I now insist that these owners are the ones to touch my car or I want to know who is going to fix it and get a nice warm anf fuzzy feeling before I sign the repair agreement. With the hourly rate of Porsche repair at independent shops, your darn right I will be looking through the magnifier! So with all things being equal, their is no harm in checking out AA's shop. I have known George since I was 16 and have bought parts off and on since then from AA...even arranged the sale of a car for him in exchange for dual webber's . I never used his service department but I would not dismiss them due to Internet chat boards. Let's face it, for many years, 914's were the cheap-throw away Porsche. Consequently, most owners were of the mindset that parts should be cheap and service should be easy..NOT the case. I am sure this led to a lot of bad press for AA with missed expectations and miscommunication. I'm not saying that they have not had stumbles but they have been around for over thirty years; hard to stay around that long for any business much less one that rips people off.

When I had my 914 several years ago I bough parts from them and George also helped me solve some issues. They were the 914 people and helped to keep them alive.
Last Year I purchased my 911 from him and went over to Atlanta to pick it up. The shop did a good job checking it out for me. Sean sat down with me and went over everything they had done to the car. The other mechanics there were also very friendly and knowledgeable. I've been well satisfied with the 911 I purchased from them and have not had any problems with it. Not to say that some may have had bad experiences with them. Scott 78 911 SC Targa 87 944 |

I used to live fairly close to them, which should have made it convenient to pick up parts.....
Several times, I would go there to purchase something and ended up spending much more time there than I should have since walk in business is ignored while the phones are answered. 30-45 minutes before you are helped????? The last straw was a few years ago when I went in to purchase some parts for my 944. Another 30 minute wait before being helped, and then one of the parts, which was on their website for $150, was suddenly going to be over $300, for a used body part! Even pointing out the website price only brought a shrug and a "that's the way it is" response. At that point I vowed they'd never see another dime from me, which they haven't. I ended up buying the part I needed from another shop for $180 including shipping!!!

I am a long time member of the 914 boards. Here is a cut and paste from just one thread (with some links). There are piles more over there.
_______________________ Here are the things I do not understand: 1. At what point is it OK for a 914 owner to sell 914-6 VIN numbers to someone so they can build a fake 914-6 and sell it to another unsuspecting 914 owner? Empathy: Would you be happy if you paid $25,000 for a 914-6 only to find out it was a fake? Now you have a car with title problems and you lost all of that money. How does that make you feel? 914World.com - The fastest growing online 914 community! 2. At what point is it OK for a 914 owner to sell a totally useless junk fan to another unuspecting 914 owner? Empathy: You just bought your first 914. You don't have a ton of money and every penny is precious. You fancy yourself as a young racer at heart. You buy a fan on eBay because the seller says' it would be good for a "racer that wants to break out more blades" only to find out it's useless and you just lost $50.00 dollars. How does that make you feel? 914World.com - The fastest growing online 914 community! 3. At what point is it OK for a 914 owner to interupt another 914 owners group buy and purchase the remaining inventory making all of the people who had sent in their money "wait" because of his selfish act and his agression toward the other 914 owner for not selling his parts to him "exclusively"? (read post #81). Empathy: You laid down $399.00 hard earned dollars (that you've been hiding from your wife) only to find out you have to wait another 3 months to get your product. How does that make you feel? 914World.com - The fastest growing online 914 community! 4. At what point is it OK for a 914 owner to sell a new part to another 914 owner only to find out that it is defective, yet, the seller will not take it back? Empathy: You now have a useless part that cost you $50.00 when you could have purchased the correct part for $25.00 "and" the guy who sold it to you won't take it back. How does that make you feel? 914World.com - The fastest growing online 914 community! ___________________

I like how he always pops in to a thread to laugh at the people having problems with his terrible parts/service. What a prick.
It's always amazed me how many 914s are sold with an AA catolog included with the documentation. I consider myself lucky to have realized early on what kind of operation they run... no money lost to their shenanigans.
