Who in CT would you trust to Powder Coat the Engine Tin?
Does anyone have a recommendation for who can be trusted with stripping, removing rust, and powder coating the engine tin?
Preferably near Hartford CT. While the engine is out this winter, I thought it would be good to clean up the car. The tin has local rust, and needs to be stripped down to bare metal. I figure strip and power coat in satin black. I don't want to strip it myself, so I want someone to clean off the rust, down to bare metal, without distorting the thin-gage metal. Then powder coat it properly and not fill up all of the nutplates/threaded holes with coating. Add in the engine mounts, transmission mounts and there is $1500+ worth of hard to replace sheetmetal. Who can I trust to do this right?

You sure the sandblaster will distort the engine tin? It ain't that thin.
I think no. Just saying.

Hi Mike,
I live in Wethersfield but I used an outfit out of Agawam, MA., New England Custom Coaters on Shoemaker Lane (close to where I work). My tin looked really ratty with some rust. They prepped and coated it and it came out very nice. I forgot which shade of black I asked for but it came out looking pretty much like the factory. Not too shiny and not too dull. You're more than welcome to check out my engine if you're ever in the area Rich

American dry stripping media blasted my Alfa and did a fantastic job. They partner with a body shop called carl masfrasas who do great painting, not sure about powder coating. I called up shoreline powdercoating in branford to ask about having my fan done and they were both friendly and knowledgeable regarding the magnesium and challenges is presents.
