Reconverting the conversion

Here's a question for you... Has anyone ever converted a longhood that had been updated to impact bumpers in the '80s or '90s back to its original longhood configuration? I would be very interested in hearing what was necessary, how much work it was, and ultimatel how expensive.

I sold my 1972 911E coupe, poor thing, to a guy whose intention it was to convert the car to look like a 964. How horrible to think of that now... I had to sell the car because I was going overseas and had no way to either keep it here or bring it with me. I've been looking for that car ever since I got back to the States. Everytime I drive the same roads I can still hear and smell that car.

It's just a fantasy, but I'm just curious, at this point, if the conversion back to original would be too much work to make it worth saving. Any info and pictures of what would be involved would be greatly appreciated!
