Ever jump a Porsche?....

I was in need of some assistance trying to determine how PCA club racing classifies certain cars. I was hoping someone on this board either he experienced this or might know of someone I could speak with that would.
I currently have a 1980 911SC USA spec that has early in it's life been given updated compression from 8.5:1 to 9.8:1. My current goal is to club race in the PCA, but I do not want to run in the GT class, which, I am under the impression I would be put into if I call the car a 1980 running higher than stock compression. As I would really like to keep the car in stock class I have searched to find a way out of GT. (Everything else on the car would currently put me in stock except this). In 1981 the 911 SC Euro was produced at a 9.8:1 compression. I wanted to verify that I could respec the car to 1981 Euro standards and run in stock class. I realize this would move me from "G" to "F", but I think I could stay somewhat competative. Has anyone done this? Know anyone who got it through rules? If so I am extremely interested in knowing what else I would need to do to the car to get it to Euro spec for 1981. This is the list I have so far. Can anyone add to it? headlamps side marker lights rear lenses steel fuel lines The bumper stuff should be a non-issue (bellows, front running light delete) as the bumpers are "free". I have the club rules and have spoken with several local officers but without a commitment as to what I might need to do to the car. I have attempted to contact Lance Weeks (Head PCA rules guy) but have not yet received a reply. Any ideas? Thanks.

You need to go the local website. Your region can be found at www.pca.org. There should be a rule book and/or a contact name that will give the specs on AX and DE.

Well, I have spoken with the regional Steward and he was unsure as to making a ruling on the compression (he answered alot of other questions I had). I have downloaded the rule-book, but the following part is the bit I could use some clarification on:
"Updating or backdating is allowed provided the converted vehicle meets all specifications of vehicle to which it is converted, i.e. it is a duplicate in all regards". I think I am on the right track with converting to a 1981 Euro, but before I weld in a roll cage, I would like to get a "warm and fuzzy." Does "meets all specifications" mean I need accuracy down to engine compartment labels or are they concerned only with engine output/performance? Dunno. Seems like it is all very subjective. In the meantime if there are any 1981 Euro gues out there, if you have spec sheets about your cars or know of some differences with the US version, please let me know. One Item I forgot to mention above was that a part number of a Euro spec fuel distributor would be very helpful. I believe it was different for the type 930/10 engines (Euro).

Lance's rulling is the only one that matters. And you would be wise to get it in writing in case he is not "the man" in future years. Also, it would be handy to put in your log book to provide guidence for a race Scrutineer that might be unsure.
I think that Euro SC's also had different gear ratios. The Euro SC's have been so dominant in F that there is a lot of talk about moving them to E.
