Oops, there goes a piece of my car (installing air duct)

I did some cutting and welding to accommodate a center mounted oil cooler. Not for the faint at hart, needed to gut out quite a large piece of my car.

Some pics taken going trough the process:

Interesting.

Will you be able to mount a stock looking bumper on it?

It would interesting to see if that adds any lift at highway speeds.

Thanks for posting. I was looking at that same piece today on the Rebel site.
Keep us posted on performance.

Is there any chance you could verify if a spare tire still fits in the stock location?

Thanks,
Tom

I think you can make it fit with a stock bumper but you will need a different valance, one with a cut out for the oil cooler.
I am going to mount a IROC/RSR bumper.

Yes, it goes with the spare tire in stock location.

No additional lift with the proper front valance. This mod was on the RSR and IROC cars to allow better air flow through the cooler.

Happy with the fitment of the IROC bumper, do not have to reshape it in any form. Still need to make me some brackets to secure it to the body.

Who made your IROC front bumper? I've had to slice and rebond both of the last two I purchased.

I do not know, I bought it from someone who had it for years but never took the time to install it on his racer.

Little progression has been made. The front bumper is sort of ready for paint. My focus is now on the backend which will be a challenge.

The bumper for the back is of less quality then the one for the front. It really has a lousy fit, I have to cut it into pieces and bond it back together to make it fit properly. The other challenge is to get the exhaust fit behind it. Car is a 3.6 conversion, I created my own exhaust consuming all the space I had behind the stock bumper thinking that the RSR bumper will get my some more space, but this is unfortunately not the case.

Here some picture:

The rear bumper really is a peace of sh?t. It is hard to believe that it was made for this it will have better fit on my Ford....

I'll had to cut it in pieces to make it properly go around the car. I hope I'll be able to bond it back to getter nicely...
