I think that is important! I understand you want them vertical - letting the most air in. You need to adjust the linkages so you get full opening (and obviously closing). There is also a stop behind the accelerator pedal.

My understanding of the TPS is that it doesn't matter too much how it is set as (on my one) you tell the computer what TPS is at for fully closed and fully open and it does the rest. It just needs to be able to measure the full range of movement. Here is a screen shot from mine.

Cam,

Are you using a Motec? Mine is a MicroTech.....it has it's own handset and the maps are more limited than the Motec.

There are two ways of adjusting the TPS sensor, either using compensation or physically adjust. I will look at it today to adjust the linkages and find out how to set the full throttle position.

Yours is obvioulsy set up for TPS.....does it also read MAP or is it either or.

Cheers

Mark......

Yeah - it is MoTeC 3D (the predecessor to the current "M" line).

I got that to save money, although I suspect I saved little... never mind - the money is spent now.

I honestly don't know if it can do both TPS and MAP - mine doesn't (as I believe the MAP would be screwed up by the overlap of the S cams).

I am not running an oxygen sensor either, FWIW. I actually don't know that the 3D can control the o2 sensor - I think it merely reads it. I sorta planned to get an 02 sensor and an air/fuel meter but I am told they are sufficiently unreliable to be not worth the $$$ (in the price range I was looking at).

Even though it is old-school MoTeC, I still have fuel and ignition maps every 250rpm and for every 10% throttle opening. There are also cold start settings (oil temp measured) and air temp/pressure is measured too I think. I also have a 7000rpm rev limit (and am itching to test it) and a 6500rpm shift light (ditto).

EMS is fun. I wish I had a dyno so I could play with it!

Cam,

the motec uses info from both the TPS and MAP to calculate the injector dwell time. When you set up the motec (haltech, electromotive, etc) you have to tell the ECU where open throttle is, and where closed throttle is.

The MAP tells the brain the load the engine is seeing at any given throttle position( by reporting vacuum or boost the the ECU). This lets the ECU adjust the injector timing to suit the needs of the engine....and if you decide to only use the TPS to manage your engine a MAP is still needed to give a baseline pressure......i.e sea level or Denver

the Coolant temp is just for warm up it make corrections to the mixture while your engine warms up

You can tell the ECU to use just TPS or MAP to manage your engine but most allow a more refined use of a combination of TPS and MAP.

The real high end units allow knock sensors, and programmable ignitions maps and other inputs to be factored into the equation

lots of hp are available in our engines....

the most valuable gauge you could install in your car is a high quality EGT gauge

no more than 1375 for a n/a engine

I believe mine is doing the second option - the MAP is only providing a baseline pressure. I think it has a reasonably neanderthal setup (as far as EFI goes).

Who needs optimum fuel economy anyway
