door hinge spray on grease?

a number of years ago I had some spray in grease I got from Girots.

It seemed to be very good, extremely penetrating and then the "solvent" evaporated and it seemed to be very thick at that point...

I want to use on door hinges/ hood pivots/etc.

What do people recommend?

Wurth HHS or HHS2000 sprays on similar to WD40 and thickens to something like STP like you describe.
Motorcycle chain lubes are similar and often have some molybdenum disulfide in the mixture. They will work well too.

911 door hinges have a little hole with a beveled edge in the middle of the hinge where you can hold the end of a pump oil can nozzle, and if the tip is rounded just right it will seal well enough to pump oil into the hinge if you hold it tight against it.

The straw on an aerosol lube will fit in there too but won't seal against it.

White lithium grease. Inexpensive, stays where you spray it, doesn't wash off, works great.

White lithium grease, as I know it, is water soluable. I too would recommend motorcycle chain lube spray. It contains a solvent carrier that carries the lube to small spaces, then evaporates, leaving a heavy layer of lube.

thanks for the replies.. I think I have white lithium and it doesn't seem to penetrate.. but maybe it is. The Wurth sounds like the ticket if I read other accounts of how it works. The motorcycle chain lube sounds like a good idea, I didn't think of that... and didn't know either.

I guess I'll call PP to get the Wurth... I couldn't get it to show up with searches/etc.

The Wurth HHS2000 is excellent. I use it as a bicycle chain lube as well on two Serottas.

One of the best out there is Dupont Teflon Spray Lube. Leave a dry film. Lots of motorcycle magazines rave about it. I use it my motorcyles, bicycles, hinges, key locks, etc. Lowes and other hardware stores sell it for around $8.00.

had to write when i saw this. during concours 2 years i was up against(little did i know) a guy who was original owner of an 87 coupe like 44k on it. it was a hanger queen and it did look as if it just came off the showroom floor.

this guy also had attended the PCA concours class over in L.A.. found out this at dinner that night. well we split hairs as far as scoring. i think i lost to him by 3/10's of a point. what did judges find??????

1) grease UNDER DOOR HINGE!

2) DUST BEHIND FUCHS

3) LINT ON CARPET

granted this wasnt huge, but none the less this is what PCA concours looks for.

i just use clear silicon spray when i hear them now making any noise.

It is the Dupont Teflon Multi-Use Lubricant. And I am probably wrong on the price. Just threw a number out there.
