G50
Please excuse my novice question. Don't all 1987-88 911's have G50 transmissions? I see several postings that list year, model and G50. Looks to me as redundent info.

Yes, the '87-'89 911's all had the G50 transmission. This is a selling point for these cars, so while it is redundant information, it is appealing to many buyers so it is called out separately to highlight that point.

We like to further distinguish ourselves from association with lowly 3.2 915 owners.

I still like to remind my buddies with older 911's that I've got the superior G50 as well.

Most ads will say 5 speed manual and disc brakes as well.
Those heavy beast G50s are a selling point to those that have never driven a 915 that has not been abused.

I'm sorry; I'm far too busy to spend my time waiting to get into first gear.

Careful people, the 87 and 88 turbo models did not have the G50.
So to be clear, the G50 is on 87-89 non-turbo 89 only for turbo

I like to see the war (sic) between G50 and 915 owners.
It makes me glad that I used a 901...the superior trans!!...LOL. Bob

I actually wanted a 915 car but somehow ended up with a G50. Go figure.

I thought the pre-89 turbos had 930 4 speed transmissions, that were a lot beefier than the 915 to handle the extra power.

If it isn't considered a 915 then what is it? Them German engineers like to give everything a designation and I can't recall a separate one for the turbo trans.
