First engine drop - Mystery transmission

Fellow Pelican's I dropped my motor/tranny together yesterday on my 1971 911E. I thought the transmission would be difficult to separate from the motor but after I un-bolted it from the motor it separated very easily.

I thought the 71 tranny's where the "Pull" type? I did find "902/1" stamped on it. I also noticed the Oil tank had the two "nipples" on it consistent with the "Sportomatic" oil tanks.

Could this tranny have been swapped? I've added a pic of the motors serial number if someone could help me identify it.

Yes, the transmission and other parts could have been swapped. I think the 902/1 was a 5 speed used during the SWB era, maybe around 1968. Your car should probably have had a 911/01. Yes, it used a pull-type clutch.

Here are pics of the clutch and flywheel.

NOTE the holes along the outside, is this stock or a modification done to lighten it? Vent it?

902/1 is a 911/912 with gear ratios AFMSX for MY years 65-67. The 902/01 is a four speed for a 68 912 with gear ratios AHQX

Ok, Thanks guys. Further research shows any 911 or 914 6 bolt 215mm flywheel will work.

Anyone know anything about the motor's serial number?

Good to know since it is a Targa and a 71. 2.2 Liters is what I understand.

I am going to keep this tranny in my 911, I like the gearing and the shift pattern suits my driving style. Thanks everyone.
