wiring question - washer pump
I am trying to get my washer pump working and have wired the pump (+) black wire and (-) to the body which corresponds to the Haynes wiring schematic. But it does not work.
The switch, fuse, pump, tubing and relay are all OK (although I can't be 100% certain about the switch) What I am wondering about is that there is a red / white striped wire which terminates along with the black one at the washer pump location. The wiring schematic shows no reason for this red / white striped wire. Is this wire to be hooked somehow to my washer pump? When looking at the schematic there is a red / white striped wire associated with the wiper motor... so you can see how I could get confused... lol Any help would, as always be appreciated.

First off, is there power going to the pump? If there is, you probably don't need to screw around with any wires.
If there is power going the pump and it still doesn't work, then there's probably something wrong with the pump. Mine stopped working and I traced the problem to the pump. I decided to take it apart because, what the hell, I probably had to buy a new one anyway. There are a few small screws on the bottom and the pump slides apart. When I got mine apart, it appeared the wheel inside had some gunk on it. I cleaned the wheel until it spun freely, put it back together, and it works like new. You might try the same. Of course, if there isn't power going to the pump, this is a null point. BTW, to check the power, hook a meter up to the two wires and have someone inside turn on the pump. If the meter registers around 12 volts, the pump is getting power.

I double checked the pump and it works fine. I checked to see whether there was power to either the red / white or black wires, yes and no respectively... so for the hell of it I hooked the red / white striped wire to the pumps positive terminal and the black to the negative... and guess what... it works... thanks for the help... why it doesn't follow the wiring schematic i dont know...
Thanks Steve
