My actual plan is:
2.2T 3R case w/Byral E-pistons/cylinders
2.4 crank/rods
2.2E pistons 9.1:1CR (up to 9.5:1 with 2.4 stroke)
S-cams
Heads ported to S-specs
Estimated HP 180+

Should i go with 2.2S-pistons? CR 9.8:1???
Any high comrpession problems?

Thanks.

i have a "built" 2.2

short throw crank
all the bottom end mods you would expect.
9.8:1 cr
one of web cams custom grinds.
smoothed heads
and that dynoed at about 175 flywheel.....

i just twin plugged it.... im hoping for about 180 after that mod

you should get some JE 10.5:1 pistons.

Tim,

What do you have for pistons ? How did you twin plug ? Any details on the bottom end ?

TimT 09-07-2002 09:58 AM

I have JE pistons and Mahle 2.2 nikasil cylinders.

The bottom end mods are:

cross-drilled crank, and modified bearing
shuffle pinned case
930 oil pump
oil bypass modification

I had the heads machined for twin plugs, and have 2 electomotive crank fired coil packs

I'm not familiar with cross drilling cranks. Can you elaborate ? I have a 2.2 E that is stock and I am interested in finding ways to improve power too, while staying at the same displacement. I find what you've done very interesting. Any thoughts of using sport valve springs and Ti retainers to get a few more revs ?

I love an engine that revs !

Michel
