Ins Company?
Who do ya use? Just got a quote from Haggerty. 87 911 Targa, guaranteed payout of 20k for 890 a year. Was thinking of raising the value. Any input? Remember, I'm a newb! Lol

I use American National. I have my house and three cars insured with them. The car has agreed value of 25K. I pay $22 per month. It is insured as a pleasure only car. I can drive it to work on occasion but not as my daily driver.

You can also try AAA if you're a member. They offer collector policies.

Same here. By bundling all my insurance with State Farm, I pay about $800 a year for my BMW daily driver and my 1984 Targa, agreed value $20k.

Are you guys sure you have a Agreed Value verses a Stated Value? I would really talk to your agent and find out. I could go with other company's for a lot cheaper to but I'm not sure I would be getting the same thing. This is what my Ins Broker sent me.
Hey Chris, I ran everything for the Porsche based on a Guaranteed Value of $20,000 on the Porsche. Hagerty is the route to go if you want to make certain you receive the full value of the car in the event of a loss. The other route which you previously had was a ‘stated value’ option. This would require an appraisal on the vehicle and the premium would be less but if the insurance company can find the same type of vehicle for say $16,000 that would be all you would receive. I do plan on uping the amount also.

I believe there is a mileage limit of 3000k a year but I can go anywhere I want, No racing either.

State Farm doesn't do agreed value. Folks are confusing this with Stated Value, which is the MAX PAYOUT assuming you can prove that your car was worth this amount. Thats the ceiling, not what you will actually get.
I have State Farm, and know 100% that they do not do agreed value. State Farm is very cheap if you just insure your car for 6 months, as us midwesterners do. The other 6 months liability is on hold, as the car is in storage. My 88 930 is $360 for 6 months, 30$ for the other 6 months. Bo |

Leeland West Experience:
Down sides: - Laborious paperwork and drawn out application process, but once its done its done. - No one but those stated can drive the vehicle. - Cannot use for ANY errands. - Must prove all drivers in the household have a daily driver. - Must prove it is garaged. Up sides: - No club/event only use requirement - Unlimited mileage (option) - No hassles with agreed value Hagerty Experience: Down sides: - Laborious paperwork and drawnout application process, but once its done its done. - Needed to prove value - Jacked rate way up after the first year. Would not provide a reason why (yes, clean drivers no tickets or accidents). Up sides: - No club/event only use requirement - No errand restriction - Unlimited mileage - No stated driver restriction State Farm Experience: If you are trying to insure it in FLA run, don't walk away!!! I say this as a long time (but now former) State Farm customer. Their FLA underwriting operation has zero reservation in screwing a customer out of $$$ even when it is due their mistake(s). Also there is a HUGE disconnect between agent and underwriting. If you currently have a collector car policy with them, I highly suggest you contact the underwriter (not the agent) and get EVERYTHING in writing. You will be surprised at what it may or may not cover. |

I do think people are confused or misled about the Agreed and Stated Value. I have to pay policy in full and no refund if I cancel after 6 months for storage. Basically, the car will be insured all year.

You need to see if they are offering you a Stated Value or a Guaranteed Value.
You want a Guaranteed Value.

I Didn't no this last year when I had it Ins with Frankenmuth. It was only $400 or so for a year policy, but if I would have totaled it, I would have been screwed with a Stated Value policy.

I would not recommend insuring for 6 months, here in Buffalo, in the middle of a blizzard currently, my babies are well protected 24/7/365.
JC Taylor has served me well for over 10 years (no claims, thank God). If I recall it costs me about a grand for our '64 SC coupe, '70 Power Wagon, '75 911S and '87 turbo cab. Total insured valuation $110k Will be adding an Alfa spider this year, probably add a hundred bucks for the year. Good value the way I see it. |
