Question "Black Again" any good?

Just picked up a product at my Porsche dealer called “Black Jack Professional Detailers Formula - BLACK AGAIN”. Made by North American Oil Company Kennesaw, GA. Anyone has a bad experience with this product in the long run – cracking or discoloration on black - bumper guards, trim, weather stripping, etc.? Seemed to do a nice job of getting those black parts back to a nice deep black color.

I haven't heard of that stuff, but there is another product called "Hog Spit" that all the Harley people swear by. It works great on the black trim, but don't let it get on the paint.

I've used it make rubber goods "black again" but doesn't last. I don't like products that I have to use every time I was the car.

Check the stuff if it´s silicone in it, then dont use it!

It´s work very fine but if you get that silicone on your paint you gonna have a problem if your car will be re-painted some time.

That silicone eats into your paint and if you try to paint on it, the paint aren´t gonna stay there.

N.G. Was a very good product, then the company was sold. The new company (allegedly) changed the formula, don't know why you'd want to mess with success . . . bottom line, I suppose. I still have 1 bottle of the original formula left, then I've got to switch to another product.

Check with www.carcareonline.com and see what Larry recommends as a substitute.

Good luck.

I found that the best stuff to use on rubber parts is the stuff that the owner's manual recommends. Glycerin.

I also have found that silicone messes up everything it gets onto. So....what removes silicone?

Yes, Black Again was THE best rubber treatment. Unfortunately, it was changed to a silicone-based formula after the company changed hands. You definitely want to stay away from it (and any other silicone-based product) now. I would recommend Wurth Rubber Care, as it is high in glycerin content. Another popular one is One Grand Rubber Treatment. I periodically treat all the rubber bits with 303 UV protectant as well. (along with silicone, UV rays = death for rubber).

I loved Black Again when it was available and manufactured in Florida. I heard the latest version is a totally new formula and not even close to the old stuff.

For my money, I would consider a McGuires vinyl-rubber treatment.

When we allready are in the "silicone" question, think of this guys:

If you someday find rust on your car do not use any kind of "rust-eater".

Mostely of this products contains silicone also, and when you finally put it on, well forget the thought of a nice paintjob.

A little slide from the subject but..

Take care of your P-cars

I have been using Black Chrome for the past 3 years and it works great. I only apply it once twice a year, and it makes the old rubber look new. I even found it at a hardware store the other day for $3, so I bought 2 more bottles
