Question What changed in the 911SC?

For the first time I looked at the technical specification page here at Pelican. Two things are curious, 1) The torque increased from 203 ftlbs to 219 ftlbs from 1980 to 1981 and 2) the transmission shown for the 1979 is different than any other year SC.

With HP, transmission type, and compression ratios the same, how did Porsche get the additional 16 ftlbs of torque from 1980 to 1981? It appears maybe this is just a typo and the figures are off by a row and the compression ratio actually was changed from 1979 to 1980 which would explain the torque increase. Should it be 9.5:1 for 1980 through 1983?

What is the difference between the 915/61 and the 915/63 transmission? Why did Porsche change to the /63 in 1979 and more more importantly, why did they change back to the /61 in 1980?

For convenience, I've attached the link.

The page your link points to has NUMEROUS TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS!!!

The 915/63 transaxle did not appear until the 1980 year model, per the factory spec book! And, they did NOT change back to the 915/61!

thanks. That answers one of my questions. I'll let Wayne know. However, what is the difference between the 915/61 and 915/63?
