They work very well. They were used on early cars and all the SOHC race cars like the 906. Being forged, they are stronger and thus are better for the sustained high rpms of race engines. The downside is you need those caps and shims to adjust the lash.
If you contact chris_seven here he can fill you in about forged rockers. Cars raced in FIA sanctioned vintage racing need to use them so there is a lot of knowledge about them in Europe. He makes some that have a bushing, by the way.

These are 935 parts and we have quite a few spares and have just re-manufactured lash caps.

I read the other post about the ti rocker shafts and trying to solve problems with sealing and the shafts walking out of the bores. Doesn't this design solve the shaft walking out of the bore?
Hard to see in the pictures but those look like O rings too.

The seals are the RSR shaft seals and not O rings. Shafts are coated when they are new in the same manner as the shafts used since the 906.
The rockers are 906/RSR type without bearings and the special washers and bushes that used to be supplied by Porsche are now NLA. I have one new set but the cost was also extremely high. The bushes with the holes that are used to spread the end of the shaft were around $100 each and the washers were around $25.00 each. Last edited by chris_seven; 01-11-2014 at 07:11 AM.. |
