Wheel spacer help

I have some 12mm wheel spacers and they don't fit flush to the hub face. The center piece that sits down into the hub center indention is too tall not allowing the spacer to sit flush to the hub face.

Should I take them to a machine shop to shorten the walls to fit or is that not possible. The top edge also needs to be flared like they are in the photo. They are Aluminum.

..not sure I follow where the interference is coming from - in any case - yes a machinist can put it on a lathe and do whatever you want with no ill effects.
The self centering lip is only there for your convenience when you bolt on your wheels, and can be totally eliminated if it comes to that.
Are you pressing in longer studs with that set up?
Bill K

edit - the raised lip should be facing out when installed

Yes I am. The side walls on the inner circle are too tall. They are not letting the spacer sit flush to hub

Per Bill's edit above, the raised center of the spacer should face outward.
See pic below.

One side of the spacer should be machined flush, the other side should have the machined (raised) concentric ring. Mount the concentric ring facing outwards.
You should not have to fit anything into a detent in the hub. Do your spacers have a raised ring on both sides?

Damn I'm stupid. I still may take 3mm off. I'm now dealing with the stud swap. I'm gonna remove the ebrake cable and use the hole to R&R. I'm not even gonna mess with the hub removal.
Thanks guys.

Joe, what size spacer are you using? F&R? What size tires do you have? You gotta a photo? I know, too many questions but I would like to see mine before removing studs but not enough thread on my existing studs to do much. I'm running 205/55/15.

Bob, the important thing here is that you're doing it and not afraid to ask questions.
Good luck.

I agree, 12 is too much. I'm gonna take them down to 6mm and see what it looks like

The great thing about this forum is that there are no stupid questions, only some people who are stupid enough not to ask for help when they hit a snag. Every expert on this board was a beginner at one time. Kudos for tackling things yourself!

Matt, 5 years ago I was taking my car to the shop for tuneups. I now find it depressing to even think about that. I actually find it just as pleasurable to work on the car as I do with driving.

Not only that, Bob, you can trust yourself not to make a decision that will screw yourself out of money. Unless wives are involved. - Matt
