Question wheel fitment

For the wheel/tire fitment experts, need your direction.
Currently have factory Fuchs 6x16 and 7x16 on my 1986 Carrera. My understanding is they have an offset of 46. My question is: will 7x17 and 9x17 993 rims fit my Carrera? With an offset of 55 I'm not clear if they will fit or rub the fender.
Any information is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

If I recall correctly, 6x16 has offset ET36 and 7x16 has offset ET23.3. I ran 7.5 x 17 front with ET35 and 9 x 17 rear with ET16 without spacers and rubbing on stock height my 86. With 993 offsets 55, believe you might be required to mount spacers with it. Bill Verburg would definitely know this.

Thanks JQ911.
Someone else told me spacers would be necessary.
Does anyone know thickness needed?
Any tire rubbing concerns?
Thanks everybody!

Not trying to be a pain but its straight up math on spacers. The space on the wheels you want minus the space your car requires is the thickness of the spacer, usually in mm. All the newer cars (than yours and mine) wheels are spaced further from the hub. You'll likely need spacers of 1/2 to 1" thk.. Just need to be close unless you're trying to fit to the last mm. Search on Verburg for his charts that show the offsets for every year. They are referenced in many places.

Fuchs 6x16 are ET36
Fuchs 7x16 are ET23.3

for 7 you want ~ET25-28

for 9 you want ~ET12-15
there is some wiggle room the lower the ET the more outboard the wheel sits

to use 993ET55 7s you use a spacer, 28mm spacer makes the 7ET55, 7ET27, again there a little wiggle room a 30mm spacer makes it 7ET25 which sits a tad more outboard

to use 993 9ET55 you use a spacer, 40mm spacer makes it 9ET15, 43mm makes it 9ET12

if you use 225/45 and 255/40 tires any of the above will fit fine, w/ wider tires or wider wheels you will want to be a little more exacting as the wiggle room goes away quickly w/ width and height
