Muffler recs anyone?

Hello,
Well, the SSI's are on the way, so now I need a muffler. Was leaning M and K becuase they are light and made of a better (321) steel. 2 in 1 out.

Currently have a stock 1 in 1 out that is gutted.

I'm looking for non-droning, rumbly not blatty, light, good breather, etc.

Dansk? B and B? Bursch?

If anyone's got something they haven't bothered to list, but want to sell...ping me.

Thanks.

Scott

Check out the M&K sound 2 in 1 out sound with headers at You Tube "PCA Sebring Blast"
Might be too raspy and boomy, with the SSI try a Dansk banana OE style muffler, there is a similar ANSA for sale in the Pelican sales forum.

I also have a Bursch... Its a bit "blatty" as the RPMs increase. Perhaps my baffles are shot.

Beyond that i think i'd prefer something with a deeper tone.

I've got a Dansk 2 in 1 out hooked up to SSIs on my SC Coupe, love it- no plans to ever change it. Stock exhaust on the Targa and… it doesn't sound nearly as good, would love to put SSIs and Dansk on that someday too.

My vote goes to Dansk Sport 2 in/1 out, or standard (not Sport) even which seem to add some torque below 4000 rpm. Only stock pattern banana mufflers make the 911 sound like a 911 should. The Sport more so. Don't let your car sound like a ricer

I've tried many mufflers over the years and currently have a Dansk 2-in, 2-out factory sport style. It's not perfect, but its got that classic Porsche 911 sound and it also has a great, low frequency rumble at idle/low rpms. No droning. I drive through a gate/guard house coming into work every morning and the sound of the exhaust going up through first and second gear bouncing off the buildings/concrete barriers is just awesome.

M&K dual in, dual out.
If you want only one out, cap one side off, easy peasy.
If you want louder dual out in the future, remove the cap.
Why Ben still makes dual in, single out, I don't know.

Is the M and K a bit loud? Not drony, just loud? I don't object to loud, but I do drive the car on the street.
Weight is a concern. The M and K's are uber-light. Is the Dansk as heavy as a stock muffler? 'Cause that's pretty heavy. Although they do sound really, really nice.

Thanks
And I won't let my car sound like a ricer.

I'm in Marietta and have a 911SC with SSI's and a M&K 2 in 2 out and a 914 GT with a 3.0 with headers and a M&K 2 in 2 out. If you want to hear them send me a PM and stop by some time. For daily driving I cap the right side. Sounds very nice with no drone. Take the cap of they become angry beasts that do drone around 2000 - 2300 rpm's but after that sweeeeeeeeet music. Takes all of a minute to remove a cap. Very light weight and far superior metal compared to the competition.

FABSPEED Supercups (1 in and 1 out) with stock cats on my 86. No drone, throaty and a little loud. I love the sound except for the 3.5" chrome exhaust tip.

Scott, how'd you get on the list for the SSIs? I put may name on the list way back and have yet to hear from anybody. I'm jealous!

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

I live in Marietta too. I'd love to take you up on the offer sometime too if you don't mind. I'm looking to do the same thing.

I had an M&K 2 in 1 out with SSI's but took it off and it was literally giving me headaches in a cab. Great quality but for me way too loud and it made me drive the car less.

I now have a cat bypass with 1 in 2 out Monty which is quieter and less tinny but still too loud. Am going to go with a Bursch sport 1 in 1 out I think.

Must be getting old but it gets embarrasing with the noise when I am trying to park in a multi storey etc.

BTW seems like a lot of us are in Atlanta. I park often at a Marta station and normally see two other 911's. A red 3.2 and a white 3.2. Anyone here?

My goal here is incremental power gain and weight loss. M and K's weigh 15 pounds (pretty light). Any idea how much the Dansk sport muffler's weigh?
Thanks
Scott
