Brake Path

1976 911S -- From the MC a hard brake line heads to the passenger side for about 8 inches, connects to a brass "L," then goes through the sheet metal towards the front of the car. But I cannot see where it goes from there.

How do I access this hard line if I need to replace it?

Also, I've noticed that place a fitting/part/etc goes through the sheet metal there is a tar seal applied to prevent water from seeping into unwanted places. Is this regular roofing tar or some other special material?

Oops. Error. The hard line goes toward the back of the car through the firewall. Same question: how does one access this line?

You have to fish it thru the center tunnel. If you remove the access cover at teh rear of the car, where you can access the shifter rod coupling, look to the far edges of the tunnel interior and you can see fuel lines, throttle rod, brake line running thru the tunnel.

For sealing up the penetration thru the firewall, you can use some silicone RTV.
