On a more humorous note... I checked out the WORDGIRL section, Brian Redman action shots from 1999, hoping to see a picture of my car...

Well, I was not dissapointed. There's no picture of my car, but down the page, the guy on the "Go-Ped" with the blue t-shirt on, Yours Truly..

"I'll make ya famous!"

Snip -

"The Cayenne - the overblown, overwrought, overweight, overpriced SUV with a Porsche badge on it is simply, as we like to put it, the answer to the question that absolutely no one is asking"
.

Could not have stated it any better!

The only thing they left out of the article is the rather anemic engines in the base cars. When you have BMW M3, Corvettes and even Mustang Cobras all pushing over 330hp for 50k or less, a 260hp Boxster going of 55k seems a little steep.

I know that Boxster or base 911 will out handle all those cars, (except a Z04), but in today's world with 500hp AMG Mercedes and 450hp Audi RS4, Porsche really needs to massage their engines a bit without raising their prices. The Porsche name only goes so far, and pretty soon, with the portly pepper pot, I mean Cayenne, the Porsche name won't mean as much.

I think that's one of the points to developing the engine in the Cayenne. I've heard that this may indeed be the next generation engine to go in the 911 (997)..

They really have to... I think they've gotten all they can get reasonably out of a 3.8. Personally at this point, since there all water-pumpers now anyway, might as well go all the way to a new engine...

I like this part: "The Cayenne - the overblown, overwrought, overweight, overpriced SUV with a Porsche badge on it is simply, as we like to put it, the answer to the question that absolutely no one is asking."

As if the world didn't have enough SUVs
