Wow, even the dust covers on the strut was rusting. Maybe they ran it down into the ocean at the Ambleside boat launch or something...

Maybe, but there is a UK site called Classic Carreras that shows carreras of similar vintage living in a similar climate with identical rust. pretty predictable dirt/sand traps. Wait til you see the driver inner engine bay. I'm using donor parts from a 79 Turbo.

Looks like a great project Strudel. My '84 came from the Kelowna area too. Lots of rust on the driver side but as much as you had. The body on mine is done and painted and now working on the interior. Glad to see another BC project car!! Motor drop is next winter.

The only motivation is the possibility of creating something like these.

Well, I think this one could have been avoided if the guy with the schutz gun had been a bit more dedicated. Having said that, the donor panel from a 79 Turbo (green) suffers the same lack of undercoating above the engine lid cable tube!

How did you get this replacement part?? Did you cut this from a donor?

I'm going to need to replace a similar part in my 87... the areas along the oil lines are rusted out.

Hi Trakrat,
Yes, I found a ball of metal in the local wrecking yard. It was a 79 Turbo with very little usable metal but these pieces where good. The remains went to the crusher a year ago.

I decided to take a rest from body today and remove my trailing arms. While in there I noticed my heater control boxes were looking pretty crusty. This is where my blast cabinet pays for itself
