Which original radio models on 911 SC 1982
Can anyone inform me which original radio models were fitted on a 911 SC on 1982?
Brand and models? I don't know if the one fitted on my car is original, on this project: yes! Forward but diferent! As it is not working, I would like to fit a new one.

Peter Morgan's book clusters the SC and 3.2 options together. If it is not a Blaupunkt I don't think it is original.
Blaupunkt (optional listed radios - and I am not sure this is complete) M326 Berlin M327 Koln M328 Bremen M328 Symphony (duplicate option number) M329/330 Toronto M160 Charleston M158 Monterey/Reno |

Wow that was helpful!
I was looking for a Monterey SQ23 for my 86 and ended up with a Charleston. Does that mean I am on the right track in bringing it back to the original set-up?

It's not clear to me from this single source and if Peter Morgan can't get a clear picture, doubt we can. I do have one or two more books I can look at. Will advise if I find anything. Edit: Red Books says the same thing. Have not see where Charleston is not an option for 86/87. Last edited by Bob Kontak; 08-30-2012 at 07:45 AM.. |

The Monterey was first used in 1983 and was the standard radio through the 86 models. It's a problematic radio to use these days, as the pushbuttons fail and original parts are NLA. There's a "fix" but it's not a great solution.
An '82 used a different radio. I don't recall offhand what the model name was (probably the Bamberg QTS) but the one in your car looks decent. If it works, and you like it, use it. JR Last edited by javadog; 08-30-2012 at 07:57 AM.. Reason: spelling |

It is a solution, yes... the problem is to get someone interested on doing the job here in the island.
But I will try to contact one guy that probably can help.

There are a lot of errors. Also, Porsche made it hard, in that not all markets used the same radios in a given year. And, often a 911 and a turbo of the same year used different radios. Blaupunkt made it hard by re-using most of their names over and over. There are several different versions of the Bamberg, Koln, etc. Nothing similar about each version... And, radios like the Monterey had near clones. They might change one or two details (like the presence of an on-board fader) and call it something else. Or, it would be known as something else in a different market. There is a Bamberg and a Koln that are essentially the same as a Monterey. To be sure, you have to refer to original factory documentation for the market in question. Sadly, I just gave away and threw away some of this stuff... I do know that in '86, you got a Monterey as standard. I'm 99% sure that a 911 used a Charleston in 1987 and a turbo used a Reno. I think the Reno was an option for the 911 that year. Thanks Javadog.
Anyone has the access to original factory documentation? That would be a great help!

I think in the US Market most often you saw these radios:
CR2000/CR2001 78-80, CR3001/CR3001H 1981-1982, blaupunkt monterey 1983-86 and Reno 87-89 |

I already manage to identify mine: Heidlberg SM 21, among st other options.
I will try to find one of these, otherwise I'll choose one of the other suggestions. Thank you all.

My 82 SC has a Blaupunkt CR3001 (with a shot display). I am almost sure that is the one that was installed at the factory when new.

Sorry to jump into this thread, but I do need some advise which is related to this topic. I have a 1982 911SC, which has fixed antenna, but NO RADIO. The place where there should be a radio is covered up as if it was never installed. Is it possible for me to install a basic radio? Thanks.

Sure, it is very easy.
I would recomend the installation of an original rádio (check your data at Porsche) - there are several available.

Keep in mind that there were sometimes different names used for the radios fitted to US cars, vs. the similar models in Europe.
