Who makes the best cabriolet tops?

Hi,

Im in the process of changing the cabriolet top on my '89 930. I'm looking to get one thats has the material and workmanship closest to the factory original. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Jay

Hi Jay,

You might get more responses over in the Technical Forum, but I bought from GAHH (GAHH: Convertible Tops, Auto Interiors, Quality Convertible Tops) when I replaced the top on my 996 Cab. They use authentic German materials and closely match the factory's patterns. Good luck,
Bill

second on GAHH

I do this for a living and when it comes to Porsche tops GAHH hands down. Plus if you have a problem you call them and ask for Jack and he can usually answer any technical questions you have.

Thank you Bill. I've never used them before but have heard good things about them. Will go with GAHH then. Would you know if they're just as good with leather seats?

About 8 years or so ago we used Cab World. The quality of the materials and cuts were pretty good. The job took literally a week to do (lots of glue); there were no instructions supplied however after completing the job we can understand why.

We bought a set of carpets from Gaaahh, not so good quality, we had 'assumed' we were getting leather trim and they shipped vinyl, and some pieces were missing and the color of the replacement pieces they shipped did not match; the reply we got was "lots never match"; we did find matching colors with another supplier. It's been 8 years now and some of the pieces have faded a bit; probably the nature of the dyes.

I'd suggest getting more opinions before I'd buy as the length of the installation process is rather long and you don't want to get stuck in the middle of the job, especially after you start gluing down sections.

Cool idea! Where would you store it if you were caught in the rain?

It doesn't rain in SOCAL!
I would think the cover fits in the frunk.

Actually... There is a French company (oui, oui) that make some thing very nice for the 996/997. It comes in two parts so it can be store in the front.

I'll contacts them to "mettre la puce à l'oreille" if you know what I meant... If not What does 'mettre la puce à l'oreille' mean? - Yahoo Answers

I have a new in the box cab top assembly if you are interested.
Complete top factory mounted on a frame and never folded. Bolt it on and go.
