How much can I shorten my G50-01?

Anybody got some info on this?
I am doing a G50 conversion on my 1979 911 SC. I've got a 3.4 engine in it and want that piece of mind when taking it to the track.

I have opted for the short bell house way of doing this.
But my measurements indicate that I will have contact between the G50 transmission and the torsion tube, if I were to machine off 25mm. I can probably cut away some material at the tube, but I'd like to be on the safe side.

So how much can I take off?

I did this on a G50/20 six speed, tailpiece is different but the bellhousing is the same. 25 mm is a pretty good measurement, but just for reference, here is the thread....

Thanks, didn't find that thread before...
Looks like he's done all the calculations/measurements.
So I'll probable try 28,5mm to a bit on the safe side.

The standard shortening is 1.1" which is just shy of 28mm.

I installed a G50/01 in an 86 body shell.

The trans was shortened by Patrick Motorsports before I got it, so I don't know how much was removed.

Anyway, I still had to cut a section of the outer torsion tube to gain sufficient clearance.

I know it's ugly. Just about crapped myself cutting into it. But I had faith in Pelican technology. No issues.

I have a friend who can do the work if need be.

Send him the bell housing Case and input shaft, $1000 later and you have a short bell housing.

Currently I'm in the middle of a G50-01 swap and I'm going this route.
Not Cutting the torsion bar.

Various ways to go about it

Thanks guys!
I' ve got a machine shop in my home town here in Sandefjord, Norway. I am guessing they'll use the cnc for the bell house, and the shaft will go in a lathe.
