G-50 2nd to 3rd slight grind

I have an 89 Carrera with 90K miles - got the car with 82K. Since day one of ownership, I get a very slight grind when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd (no grinding noise, but I can feel the slight 'tick tick' of gears when shifting), particularly if I shift quickly - if I'm slow and very deliberate in how I move the shifter I don't get the grind. There are no other upshifting shifting or downshifting issues. I replaced the trans oil with Delvac and the oil that came out was pretty clean - no chunks of metal and just a small amount of very fine metal shavings (consistency of mud) on the magnetic drain plug. With the Delvac I noticed an overall improvement in the smoothness of shifting, but no change with the slight grind in 2nd to 3rd upshift. I checked the linkage bushing under the access plate behind the front seats and it seems to be in good shape with no discernible play.

Anyone else run into this? Would love to get rid of this little irritation....

Sounds like a worn synchro.
