Post Couple of quick questions

Just a couple of questions for my MSD install.
1. Are the bolts that hold the "bracket" for the original CD box suitable to use for a ground for the tach adapter?
2. Is there a direct battery lead closer than the starter? There are some fairly substantial wires coming through the firewall below the corner of driver side rear window. Without a meter, I am hesitant to use one... red/white, red/black, and a couple of greenish ones.
3. If "no" to above, has anyone run a wire straight from the battery to the engine? Looks fairly straight forward. But that's what I thought about this whole project.
Thanks,

Hello

Sorry I´m not sure if this is a joke but i´ll try my best:

1. Are the bolts that hold the "bracket" for the original CD box suitable to use for a ground for the tach adapter?

The bracket sits on rubberisolations. Now Porsche had used several ground wires. One very important runs direct from the CD box to the engine. A other runs from the lower bracket bolt to the factory ground point a bit more forward on the left inner sidewall from the enginebay. You will find it very simple by following all the brown wires hanging on there.

2. Is there a direct battery lead closer than the starter? There are some fairly substantial wires coming through the firewall below the corner of driver side rear window. Without a meter, I am hesitant to use one... red/white, red/black, and a couple of greenish ones.

Sure there are wires runing direct to the battery. The are RED and you can find one wire allready fused at the rear from the bracket.

3. If "no" to above, has anyone run a wire straight from the battery to the engine? Looks fairly straight forward. But that's what I thought about this whole project

The factory allready did it to charge the battery with the alternator.

However the simplest thing is to use the powered connectorfrom the factory CD as you maybe run a unfused wire trough the complete car and allways find your battery dead except you make a switch inline.

Wire shematics can be found on the Pelican Tech site.

If you are not sure then ask the parts suplier for assistence and if you vblow up something sue them for saleing a stupid product without a good ( fooolproof ) manual.

I also wounder if a 930 will run good with a aftermarked ignition.

Thank you, No, it is not a joke. I am not very knowlegable about my car, hence the "stupid" questions. The power wires are all cut that are coming through the corner of the engine compartment. I don't want to tear the whole engine apart just to hook up the power wire to the alternator. The CD box has a switched power wire too which I hooked up to the original power wire, but it also has a direct to battery lead. I hope your comment was offhand about a 930 running alright with an aftermarket ignition! Your scaring me.
