"LIKE" this :) The color matching matte finish or stripes is NOT odd! It's different and I think pretty tasteful. I am currently contemplating the exact idea but with a checker pattern on my engine lid only. Guards red gloss and matte checkers... COOL  |
I agree. Using matte stripes demonstrates that you intended for it to be that way. Instead of driving around with an unpainted part.

George,
Nice shot in the album. Didn't see many where the engine lid is also painted. I'd be interested to see AF anyone has some of those. I'll be surfing Uri's 1000 or so pages. |

One of things I've been consider on my silver Targa besides keeping the current black hood is painting the bumpers black. However there is a point where you go too far and it starts to look over thought and over worked. A black hood is classic because of the racing heritage behind it, but doing the bumpers turns it into a two-tone car. Targa's are already two tone cars because of the Targa bar and the vinyl top. However when is there too much of a good thing? It's subjective, and depends on a lot of variables. The black Plasti-Dip spay on is attractive because it can be peeled off, plus has great chip resistance which is important on bumpers and side flag mirrors. I may be experimenting this spring, Photoshop isn't going to be enough I'm afraid, I'm just too curious of a person. |
George,
Agreed on all points. Like you I'm a little curious. The plasti dip, while not really paint (some matte finishes looke really good, ie the Mercedes ) I might try it just to get a real life feel for it. Can always peel it off. I'd like to see if we can get more images on this thread just for references. Jeff |
Leakyseals, thanks for all the photoshop work. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

Here's another. Unfortunately still in garage, don't want to drive in wet snow and dirt.
