911E crankshaft
I am rebuilding my '71 911E motor and apparently need to replace the crank. (The other option is to cut the one I have and look for -.50mm bearings, re-harden, etc. and spend a fortune.)
My question is: My crank is counterbalanced. Can I replace it with a non-counterbalanced? The part# on the existing counterbalanced one is 901-102-011-00. The used non-counterbalanced I see are listed for sale as 901-102-010-00 but don't see those in the parts catalogs. Any help out there? Thanks... |

I have seen a 2.2T non counter balanced crank replacing a 2.2E counter balanced crank with no running problems. Not a track or racing application.

You can use a T crank in lieu of the S or E crank..
In fact there are some racers who use T cranks in racing applications, since, when coupled with a button clutch, the MOI is reduced and engine revs like mad... and T cranks used to be much easier to source.... For a street car.... you could never tell which crank you have from the drivers seat..

Thanks guys. I think I have found a replacement std/std crank that is counterbalanced. Someone told me that with those old mag cases, anything that helps eliminate vibration and stress is a good thing!
