Door not closing, door latch in wrong position

After receiving my car back from the paint shop one of the lovely workers managed to re position the door latch but accidentally turning it to the lower position and now the door will not close. Below is a picture (not my car) of the part that has been re positioned and now I cannot get it back to the correct position. I know it is spring loaded inside and I even tried taking the spring off and still wont turn the correct way. Ne ideas??

Maybe stating the obvious, but did you try pulling the trigger on the external door handle to reset the latch?

Interior handle pull will set it to the open position again.

I'm glad you asked. I thought surely he would have so I didn't bother. Wasn't the door shut when it was picked up from the shop?
