Bent/angled seats

Why are my front seat angled apart from each other?
Normal or because they are old and saggy?
I forgot to look if it's just the seat back that's angled or the whole seat.

Had to go take a look, and guess what? Mine look like yours also! The passengers side is angled more than the drivers, just like yours. They feel fine when I'm sitting in them though.
I guess if somebody was sitting on you for 30 some odd years you would look a bit bent would you not?

Bent!

Man am I glad you posted this. It has been bothering me though I didn't want to post it! I too have angled seats though mine are angled in. I wonder if it is the seats or the mounts that are out of whack?

i've fixed a few of mine just by reefing on them. YMMV.

I started noticing when I was reaching for my seatbelt, ( i have the door pockets) and it's realy a tight fit to get the seat belt between the seat and the door pocket.
If the seats are vertical instead of angled that will give it more room to get the belt out.

The chassis mounts on the older cars are cantilevered out from the longitudinals and center tunnel. They are not especially strong, so years of bearing heavy weights could cause them to bend down some, and differentially on one side rather than another. If this is the case, they can be bent back up, at which time welding in some reinforcement might be a good idea. In a rear end collision, the seat is all that protects you.

So I guess the previous owners hated each other and sat as far apart as they could, and in "jchris" car it was opposite
