Video of Front Window Removal
Been looking for a video showing front window seal, trim, and window removal - relevant to my 1984 911 coupe. I do much better with videos then written descriptions. Have an A-pillar rattle/cracking noise that I believe warrants a new seal ... and air rushing in in several places.
Thanks in advance for sharing a link or actual video.

I looked and couldn't locate a video either.
It really isn't all that hard on your 84. Since you are looking to solve wind noise, you will be replacing the windshield rubber. Use a Porsche OEM rubber and not an aftermarket. With a sharp new blade in your box cutter, cut the rubber seal just behind the trim between the trim and the body. Cut straight down to the glass all the way round. Put tape on the trim so you don't scratch it. Some would say to remove the trim first, but doing that, you run the risk of bending the trim. It is easier to cut the rubber with the trim in place and then remove the trim and cut rubber as an assembly. Then it is much easier to remove the trim from the rubber without damaging the trim. Be careful with the trim, it is very soft aluminum and can bend easily. With the cut piece of rubber removed, the windshield should easily lift away from the remaining rubber. Also, if your existing windshield has an embedded radio antenna, be very careful with the electrical connections at the lower right bottom edge. And when you fit the new rubber to the windshield, you will have to cut a hole in the rubber for the wire. Tricky to say the least. Last edited by abisel; 03-07-2014 at 03:52 AM.. |

The 101 projects book has a good description of the process, I did mine a couple years ago, removal was very straight forward and simple, installation was a bit more difficult; hardest part is getting the trim to sit in the channel correctly. Having a second set of hands for the install is very helpful.
