Paging Daltvader on Bumper Mods

Was looking at your project thread with the bumper mods - which are excellent. I am going the same direction thanks to your inspiration. Have a few questions on methods. On the front bumper you say you left two mounting studs, one on each side. On my car the studs attached to the shock are inset behind the rubber smile and nowhere near long enough to stick out beyond the fill area to mount a nut. Did you cut out the original bolt from the shock and replace it with another? I assume you have welding skills. Also if you need to take the front bumper off in the future did you insert a sleeve for the bolt to run through or what?

Looks like you used carriage bolts for your rear bumper. Again it looks like you sacrificed two in back and just left two. Did you cut those out and drill a hole through the bumper shock to add the carriage bolts? I assume you did paint the bolts while mounted to the bumper. So what I need to know is how re-engineered the front and rear bolts. Thanks man Rick

And if any one has suggestions on how to make these guys work or know Dalt - please let me know.
