Chimera has moved onto another caretaker and fortunately for me, I still see it every now and then as I am friends with current owner.

Here are some pics of the car which I wanted to share, as posted some time back on Instagram. Although I am not in any social media, my hardcore car aficionado nephews from Panama sure are on all of them and sent them to me. So, I wanted to share them with the board...

Merry Christmas everyone!

Otto,

I had heard rumors that she was gone and now in the hands of the MagMan! Was hoping to see it in 2019 @ Miami DRT.. I remember following the build.. very cool car!

Thx for sharing and Merry Christmas to you too!

It’s undergoing 6 Million Dollar Man type of improvements for a bigger, better 2019 and the goal is to display it at 2019 DRT! I will be there, although with nothing from Stuttgart in my current stable of toys (for now);)

How the heck did you post screenshots on Pelican? How did you upload them?

OttoB 12-25-2018 03:39 PM

Once you take a picture/capture an image of your phone's screen, then it simply becomes just like any other picture.... That way, you can download it into the forum in the normal manner.

Got these pics also forwarded by my nephews - cool pic as I was always fond of its rear view...

It has been a while, but I see this car every single day now for quite a bit as I have a big poster framed of the article it was featured in Excellence a few years ago close to my laundry room...

So, I figure I would share some pictures of Chimera from when I last saw it at the amazing Das Renn Treffen show in Homestead earlier this year:

https://dasrenntreffen.com

If you are in Florida, it is certainly worth the drive to attend - it is well organized (now been around for several years), the quality of the vehicles easily rivals or exceeds any other annual P-car show on the East Coast, and there is always something for everyone.

For me, it was my old car resplendent in shiny fresh paint and a handful of changes since I last it (at the same show 3 or so years ago). On the outside, the Vitaloni Sebring mirrors evoking the 1970's racers have been swapped for 935/Ruf style ones, the sunroof has been eliminated, and the rear wiper was removed. I recall having bought one of the last remaining 1995 993 OEM rear glass during the course of me having it repainted since I did not want the 3rd brake light defroster trim in the glass (that year of 911 had the tea tray handle light bar for the 3rd brake light). The interior was also swapped over and is all black.

The car more than stood its ground despite the other beautiful machinery vying for attention. Chimera will always hold a special place in my heart and hope you guys like the pictures.

So dang satisfying to see how this car continues to make the rounds all over, earning the respect and accolades it deserves for me going out of my way to ensure a design different to everyone else's... even after all these years!

Below is a link from an article on Luft 8 posted on the Hagerty website (pic 45 of 80 towards the bottom):

Next up is the car swinging by Paul Kramer's Autokennel, who coincidentally, I had contacted many years prior about perhaps brokering its sale, but being in opposite sides of the country, was not feasible.

And, most recently making an appearance via Speedhunters when they featured an article about the 10 year anniversary of Magnus Walker having featured at their website and his short film:

Celebrating The Urban Outlaw, 10 Years On - Speedhunters

Just wanted to share as the car continues to be well-looked after by its caretaker and as assured earlier this year, for his son eventually to continue enjoying for many more years!!!

Nice job OttoB. I stumbled across this post today 4/1/2025.

I'm a little more camera shy than you, but here is my 1978 Turbo that I built around 2005. It too was on the cover of Excellence. Oh, and the engine was by Andial.

Selling this car was the worst automotive mistake I've ever made!

Cheers,

Paul,

I saved pictures of your car, with the pink pig livery and with the subsequent green paint job, on my photo library since 2005! I think my 965 was the first one that I believe was ever cut up to add 934 flairs - but, it was based on my decision to want deep dish, racing type rear wheels as the geometric suspension setup on 965's did not allow for it. And of course, reading through this thread you will see why I also opted to get a ducktail so that ultimately, it does resemble the one you built years prior. I am very proud of the creativity involved in achieving the unique look for my car, and sold it for reasons beyond my control (finances) but I don't regret it, as my perseverance since then finds me on equal or even better footing than 10 years ago.

I have since built up several other cars and presently, over at the Pelican 914 Forum doing a different kind of Porsche. I got this one which many have seen before in BAT:

This is the link at the present build in progress, having missed the deadline to show it at Amelia's Werks Reunion as well as the PCA Corral at Sebring 12 Hours last month. But hoping it's ready for BAT's first ever Florida meet on the 19th although have serious doubts. Same me, same Michel and same crazy, extensive modifications:

We have all been there, where life throws us lemons and we have to drink water because you don't have the sugar to even make lemonade. Check out the build for some cool 914 stuff!
