leak help
Found a leak in the rear windscreen. Got a new seal and trim but have been getting killed trying to get the trim to stay in place. Any advice on how to pre-form the trim to give it a better chance of staying put? I know I need to massage the trim to get it to seal properly. Just wasted 8 hours and still failed. Also didnt find any dum dum in the lower corners. Is it needed? Any advice would be awesome. Thanks in advance pelicans.

You are installing the trim before roping in the window correct?

Yes. Defrost wires in seal, seal on window, trim installed in sea. Placed the rope and pulled it in. Just getting by rear end kicked during the massage process. I think my trim was a bit out of shape when I started, and now that it has been fooled with a few times, definitely needs to be shaped back to some kind of starting point. I cant remember if I should go off of the shape of the glass, or of the cutout. And thinking over it last night after I gave up, I think that the dum dum is important. It was the top corners I was having the most trouble with.

Nope, wrong order. Wires in seal, THEN trim in seal, and seal on glass...trim being out of shape may make it all moot at this point though...

Here's a good recent post
It also references "required reading" with links to other threads. I will have to do this at some point, so I've been watching these type of threads as the come up. Let us know how it goes.

Reform the trip by laying it on the glass without the seal. Once it's back in shape it "should" stay in palace better. Get an excellent shape to the trim piece. It still a PIA and good luck!

Exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. Thanks boys Did the front a while back and had ZERO issues. Dropped in and sealed in one try. The rear on the other hand is a real pain.
I did try to put the trim in the seal, then the seal on the glass the first time...... I may be an idiot, but there was no way in heck the glass was going in with the trim already in place. Ill give it a try to get the trim back to a reasonable shape and take another stab at it. So I am still not sure..... Should I use dum dum in the bottom corners? And I still have not been able to find a good pics of a properly installed rear seal. Anybody got one? Seems like maybe I just overworked mine trying to get the top to look perfect, which may just be wrong. I didnt have anything good to go by since mine never had a trim piece to begin with. Edit: Had a chance to go all the way through the links posted by RD911T and saw the top corners. The way I thought they should look... and not even close to what I had.
