Speaker Size '70 911 E
I would like to install a speaker into the factory speaker hole in the dash. Does anybody know the factory speaker size I should look for.
Thanks, nick '70 911 E |

Darnit! Sorry Nick, I lost the note I made on this. But some time ago, I read a post that said Radio Shack had a speaker that would fit, with slight modifications. The poster gave a part number, but I can't remember if it was this site or another. Suggestion: Remove stock speaker, trace it's outline, or take it to a radio shack, see what the people there can figure out from their catalog? Sorry I wasn't more help....Paul

From what I recall, there is no commonly available speaker that fits exactly. The stock Ortofon (IIRC) unit is a bizzare size.
What I did is get a modern 4x6" Blaupunkt coaxial 2-way and mount it into an MDF plate that I cut & drilled to fit the stock opening. Far better sound, and you can't see the difference with the grille in place anyway. Cost was <$30.
