Are electrical switch connection designations consitant?
Hi All -
I am using a heated window switch (part number 911 613 149 00) as the switch to manually turn on my oil cooler fan. It will be installed in the blank area between my defrost switch and my cig lighter (my car does not have fogs). I am trying to locate a schematic of what tab on the back of the switch does what (ground, power, etc, etc). Here is the back of the switch: ![]() After doing a bunch of searches, I cannot find anything specific to this switch, but I do see the numbers referenced on other switches/circuits. Are these consistent throughout the car? I just dont want to fry this switch/burn up wires by making assumptions or trial and error. Thanks! Scott S

I think I figured it out - but with one question:
31 = Ground 15 = Keyed power 58 = Knob light I = Accessory/load 1 II = Accessory/load 2 Question - Is the knob light a positive or a negative lead? When wiring an off the shelf rocker switch, the light is triggered by a negative lead - but in that case there is no other ground on the switch. Can anyone verify that my findings are correct and what the correct polarity is for position 15? Thanks a million for any help. I do find is strange that there are two accessory/load "outputs" on this switch being that it is only a single position switch.

I think you will find: 31 is ground for switch light only 15 is +12v keyed power for device (fan) 58 is +12v power for switch light, comes on with dash lights, I and II are +12v output power to devices (fan). So 15 needs heavy duty (fused) lead, from battery ( fan will run after ignition is off) or from ACC (fan will cut off when ignition is off) - your choice. I or II need heavy duty lead to fan/controller. Either one, unless you use 2 fans.. My fan controller used ACC line with small fuse to run controller itself, and separate line with big fuse just for the fan. My fan/controller instructions said put big fuse in fan line AFTER the fan - not too smart! Better to put the fuse BEFORE the fan. If you need help, let me know, I live nearby. Algernon
