2.4 911E heads

Hello all. Let me introduce to you the act you've known for all these years...

I need some info. Does anyone know with the diameter of the intake and exhaust ports are on 2.4 911E heads? Are these heads the same as 2.4 MFI 911T heads? I know 2.4 911S ports are bigger, but I don't know if the E and T are the same.

Also, I am wondering what would happen if I install 2.4 911E throttle bodies on 2.4 911S heads. Would this just make the intake ports smaller? If so, how would an engine run with smaller 911E intake and larger 911S exhaust ports? Would it screw it all up?

Thanks!

69-73 T & E ports are I/E = 32/32, 69-71S ports I/E = 36/35, 72-73 S ports = 36/36

I'm not sure that the larger S exhaust port would be the issue, but.......911 E T'bodies have a 32mm base port, 911S has a 36mm intake port...that would be a fairly sharp transition from t'body to intake port. That sharp intake transition is typically not desired....(although i 've heard recently that having such a transition was/is an old hotroddders trick to minimize reversion...anybody know anything about that........buehler?...buehler?) I'm not sure that this would screw it all up. Perhaps it would result in slightly higher intake velocity, better low end.......but be somewhat restrictive at the high end............. depending on the state of tune.

That's just me...I could be wrong....experts will chime in.

regards,
Al

Thanks, Al. It's very interesting. Now I'm wondering why the 911E stacks and throttle bodies for 1972/3 had different part numbers from the same years 911T if the ports were of the same sizes. Did 911E heads also have different part numbers from the 911T though they were essentially the same heads?

I'd be very interested in the old hotrodders truck you mentioned!
