Folks, I was down. I was depressed. I was a desperate man. My sweet SC was runnin' like a ragged assed mule at quittin' time. Wouldn't idle, sounded serious ($$$):
Motor problems- Need help! Emcon5 was the first to suggest that my problem might be the lambda sensor/dome light circuit. Well, I got home tonight, checked the dome light and DAMN! it was out! I peered under the passenger seat and the relay was loose and not making contact. I plugged it back in, but no change. Next, I went to the dome-light fuse and it was blown. Replaced the fuse and now my little SC is begging me to gobble up the roads again! I LOVE THIS PLACE! Thanks again, everyone!

With all due respect to Tom, I believe it was John Walker who pointed out (a long time ago) that a malfunctioning frequency valve/relay, would make for a rough-running CIS motor.
The relay (or valve?) shares it's power source with the dome light circuit. Go figure.

Eats relays? I wonder why, Tom?
How about light bulbs? Do you burn them out too frequently?

No, no bulb problems, or any other wierd electrical problems. The only relay's it eats are that one. At this point I am thinking happy thoughts about it being a coincidence.

That's an *interesting* design, having those two on the same circuit...

Not the first time something like this was done for either design or production expediency. Landing gear hydraulic system failures in the first B-29 bombers were traced to urine in the hydraulic oil. To avoid making another hole in the fuselage a designer vented the hydraulic system into the plane's "pee hole". At altitude the urine froze at the outlet, plugged the system thereafter sending urine into the hydraulics. Engineers and designers are not perfect, especially when hounded by accountants to cut costs. Cheers, Jim

Hello
How come this setup is a engeneering failure ? The Porsche engeneered beetle shared the horn fuse with brake light fuse. So if it ain´t have beep beep you ain´t have brake lights. On the 911 and the 928: You ain´t have interiour lights you ain´t have a working lambda control unit. Simpler then idiot lights telling you have a heavy malfunction in the Emmisions circuit and you have to stop the car and tow it to the next dealer.
