Which 917 Would You Choose?

After doing some hot laps with my son tonight, I started to wonder "which 917 would I pick if I had my choice?"

Of these 4 options, I'd probably go with the L&M 917/10 but I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

It goes with-out saying my ultimate choice would be the Sunoco 917/10-30 but unfortunately I don't have one to include with the picture.

Which one would be your choice ????

The Martini livery one. But I do have a thing for open top cars now.

It'd have to be either the 'pink pig' (so cute ) or the Sunoco for me.

It's a horrible question, making us pick, but since I love them all I think I'd have to go with the Martini car. The Can-Am cars are spectacular performers, but the standard 917K is the one that does it for me. If I had to go with a topless model then I think it would actually be the 908-3.
No logic involved in the process, there can't be...

That's easy: the flat-16 prototype! The one Mark Donohue said, "you could hear one end start up before the other!" -- Curt

Smile 917

In honor of what I was doing back then, the green-violet "hippie" longtail #3, 2nd at Le Mans 1970 with Larrousse and Kauhsen, behind the 917K of Herrmann/Attwood and ahead of a 908 only a few laps back, followed by a couple Ferrari 512s 300 miles in arrears and more Porsches.

No pics of the Ferarri's, but here is the lead 911, that finished 7th.

The 911 guys actually came in 3 laps behind these guys (now wouldn't that be embarrassing):

I love the internet.

Thanks Tom. I'm a novice and don't know how to post pictures yet. It was a pretty good year, got married (for the first time), moved to California (in a clapped-out '62 Super 90 conv, case of oil in trunk, some things never change), saw my first Grateful Dead New Year's Eve concert.

Longheck of course...it might not be fastest around but it's probably fastest in straight line...

(with 917/30 engine-transplant if possible, please)
