1977 911S Windows Quit Working

My switches for the drivers and passenger side have all of the sudden stopped working. I have checked the fuse bar and all fuses seem to be ok. Any advice on what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I'd probably recommend pulling them out from their mounts and start checking with a voltmeter to be sure you have power to the switches, then trace them along. I seem to remember that the power for both of the windows comes from the driver's door switch at first. If you search around, there should be a wiring diagram to help you trace the fault.

The switches themselves are known to fail as well, especially the URO aftermarket ones.

Power to the driver's switch is missing / driver's side switch defective.

Connetion corrosion?

You may have to pull the door panel. Search on how to do this. It's annoying the first time as you have to figure it out. Quite simple - once you've done it -but there are several fasteners. Long allen wrench set is helpful.

You will need a multi-meter.

The corrosion was what the culprit was on mine. Not bad, but dirty enough to case issues. Cleaned it up and it works well now. Easy job, try it. Thinking of cleaning and regreasing everything (windows are a little slow).

Hey All,

Thanks for the responses, I did a search on Google and found on rennslist there is a plug in well of drivers door. This was the culprit, plug was unconnected and when put back in, all was well.

Hope this post can help seine in the future.....
